AFRICAN AGRICULTURE TECHNOLOGY PLATFORM
Complementing the analysis and refining of the decisions, M&E tools and metrics in case studies, the TC is further closely involved in the development of an African Agriculture Technology Platform (AATP), an initiative being developed by USAID, GIZ, the CGIAR Consortium Office, the International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) and others.
The AATP is initially being designed as a facilitated flexible, scalable, and collaborative network aimed at assisting African countries in meeting their Comprehensive Africa Agriculture Development Program (CAADP) National Agricultural Investment Plans (NAIPs), and, in the Horn of Africa, the agricultural investments detailed in the Country Program Papers.
This will be achieved by:
- Facilitating and enabling collaboration, awareness, knowledge and capacity about availability of improved technologies for food systems critical to achieve sustainable yield, resilience, and nutrition impacts at local, national and sub-regional levels;
- Identifying current constraints to adoption in specific countries; and
- Supporting the creation of roadmaps consistent with country NAIPs to accelerate adoption of technologies.
The AATP will engage stakeholders at multiple levels with face-to-face interactions, collaboration, and decision-making, and is supported by a robust, open, and customisable Virtual Information Platform that provides key information about technologies, commodities, crops, markets, as well as peer-to-peer learning and support.
